HASTINGS MEETING WANGANUI MEN COMPETE [ Per Preas Association. J H ASTINGS, March 5. Ono of the gatherings held at Hastings a>*-.snbled at the sports meeting? held in connect ion with the Royal visit. There were competitors from Wanganui, Mastcrion, Wellington, Marton, Dannevirke and neighbouring districts. Rose won the mile handicap in 4 23 4-5, shepherding the field to the last lap, where he got a handy position, e. rawing out to run home, winning comfortably by three yards. Oakley (Mastcrion), from 15 yards behind, won the mile cycle, in 2 18 4-5, and the two miles (3G yards behind), tn 5 52 1-5. C. J. Robertson (Hastings) won ttrc 220 yards handicap. The 880 yards was won by 11. .1. McKenna (Dannevirke), Verry (Hastings) being second. Newton (Wanganui) was just beaten for third place Campbell, of Hastings. Time: 2 0 1-5.
