Mr T. B. Strong, at present Assist-ant-Director, has been appointed Director of Education. Dean Fitchett, vicar of All Saints’ Church, Dunedin, has resigned, after 47 years’ service in the parish. Mr and Mrs William H. Gilson, of Wellington, are spending a few days in Wanganui. A Thames message reports the death of Mr Albert Bruce, at one time Town Clerk, and Treasurer at Thames. Messrs Charles E. Rhimes, A. G. Holloway, W. Macrae, and H. B. Hansen, of Wellington, are staying at tho Rutland Hotel. At the recent examinations of the Associated Board, Miss Feral Howley, of Palmerston North, a pupil of iMss Dorothy Huges-J' hnson, of Wanganur, passed in tpie advanced grade for violin. Arrivals at Foster’s Hotel include Mr W. Seccombe (Coff’s Harbour, N.S.W.), Mr E. E. Gahagan (Sydney), Mrs L. Craig (Kakatahi), Miss M. Russell (Hastings), Mr C. J. Bell (Dunedin), Miss E. E. Jcnpings, Mrs M. Goldwater, Mr G. W. Lindstrum (Aucklang), Messrs C. C. Ross, F. Peterson, Mrs Guy Williams, Miss B. Williams (Masterton), and Mr A. M. Anderson (Wellington).
