ROTARY CONFERENCE

FINAL SESSION GREETINGS FROM ITALY AND JAPAN (Fer Pres, AssortstTon? AUCKLAND, March 4. The business of the fifth annual conference of New Zealand Rotary Clubs concluded to-day. When the conference assembled Mr Charles Rhodes, acting District Governor, read a cablegram from five Japanese Rotary clubs which joined in sending most cordial greetings and best wishes for a most successful conference. “We Rotarians feel very happy in working under a world fellowship for, the promotion of general welfare and advancement” added the cablegram. A cablegram extending greetings was also read from Italy. Various group committees drew up recommendations, the most important being that New Zealand should bo divided into four divisions. It was resolved to leave the question of boundaries until a later date. A recommendation which was also adopted suggested that one of the most important needs of the day was the inculation into the younger generation of a sense of reverence and responsibility. It was suggested Rotarians as employers be urged to take the very keenest interest in the younger members of their staffs, not only in the direction of their business, but also in thc formation of character. A recommendation that the next annual conference be held at Palmerston North was adopted and Mr Charles Rhodes was unamiously elected District Governor for New Zealand for the year. The Coltman Cup. presented by Mr W. Coltman, president of the Auckland club for competition among dedegates at the conference was won by the Invercargill chib. The main conditions were the percentage of attendance in regard to membership and the number of miles travelled.
