ON THE FRANCONIA
DISTINGUISHED VISITORS SOME OF THE TOURISTS. Among the tourists on the Franconia, now in New Zealand waters, are many prominent people, some of whom arrived at Wanglanui last night with a party which came down the Wanganui rive;. Others will follow to-day. Among the well-known people on the Franconia are the following:— Lady Pearson, widow of the late Sir Arthur Pearson and a Dame of the British Empire. Colonel C. Van Deventer, a Chicago financier and consulting engineer. Mr W. W. Reilly, of Buffalo, New York, who is connected with the lumber business.
Professor C. C. Huntington, of the School of Commerce and Journalism, Ohio State University. Dr W. D. Hliines, of Cincinnati, Ohio, a prominent surgeon and president of the Western Medical Association.
Mr 11. Slazengcr, of London, of the firm of manufacturers of tennis and sports goods. Mr Bernhard A. Duis, a New York financier and vice-president of the National Bank of New York City.
Major-General George M. Mohlton, who commanded a regiment during the Spanish-American War, 1898. He is a noted Mason.
Mr George Serith and Miss Elizabeth Smith, of Bostf«a, who are making their third world tour.
Mr Sherman Stevens, a wealthy orange grower of Southern Calofornia.
Mr W. K. Richardson, a prominent Boston lawyer.
Mr E. J. Barber, of New York, head of the Barber steamship lines. Mr and Mrs Wellington Martin, who live on an island they own off the coast ot Florida.
Commander S. Phillimore, a retired officer of the British Navy. Dr Wilhelm O. Von. Riedemann, of Cologne, Germany.
Colonel C. E. Jacques, a Chicago manufacturer.
Mr George Af. Schofield, a retired advertising man. Mr G. J. Bader, president of the Indiana Harbour National Bank. Mr Michael King and Mr Austin King, of Danville, Illinois. Mr Michael King was a partner in business with the late Hon. Joe Cannon. Mr H. M. Jones, a steel manufacturer of Portland, Maine.
Mr W. Bancroft, manufacturer of tennis goods.
Mr Myron L. Keith, president of a large American firm of shoe manufacturers. .
Dr and Mrs Dillom Bronson, who are making their third tour. Dr Bronson is a retired minister.
Mr Egbert C. Fuller, of New Haven, Connecticut, a wealthy manufticturer. Dr Howard C. Warren, professor of psychology at Princeton University. Mrs I*'. A. Savles and Miss Hope Savles, who belong to one of the wealthiest families in the United States.
Nt) Charles K. Haddon, late president of the Victor Talking Machine Company, Philadephia. Captain AV. W. Brown, president of the Pittsburgh Glass Company, who is accompanied by his wife and daughter. Mr W. H. Dodge,, president of the Allied Newspapers of America.
