AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC.

HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE The three star attraction programme produced at His Majesty’s Theatre on Saturday and again last night was responsible for a capacity house, ‘ ‘ Spangles ’ ’ was the main picture attraction. This picture, which co-stars Pat O’Malley and Marion Nixon, has a four-ring circus as its setting ,and included in its atractions arc a large family of dwarfs, and a herd of elephants, to say nothing of clowns, acrobats, bare-back riders, and one of the largest menagerie collections in the United States. “The Age of Innocence” was a well produced support, but the star turn was that of littie Jackie Clarke, who brought down the house with his songs and antics. This programme shows finally to-night. “The Man on the Box” Everyone will remember the big success that “Charley’s Aunt” was when it was shown in Wanganui some time ago, and now the same artist, (Sydney Chaplin) will appear in another that is even better. Two Russian spys are intent on stealing the plant of the ’plane, but Bob. disguised as a maid starts a series of misadventures that are ridiculous, while romance stalks unfettered through the picture. David Butler, Alice and Kathleen Calhoun, Theodore Lorch, Helene Costello, E. J. Ratcliffe, Charles Gerrard and Henry Barrowes are also included in the players.
