Aldridge, coroner, who returned verdict that deceased met his death by being struck by a train at Ohakune, no blame being attachable to anyone. PERSONAL Mr E. H. McCormick has pawed his 3.A. degree examination. He is a son of Mr and Mrs W. J. H. McCormick, of Taihape, and has been teaching in the Nelson district. Captain Buick, son of Mrs C. Buick (Pukeokahu) was married last week ip Christchurch, to Miss Ruby Smith, a daughter of Mr and Mrs G. C. Smith, of Christchurch. They will reside at Utiku. SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS The following Taihape District High School pupils were successful in recent examinations:— Matriculation: Dulcie Baker. Public Service Entrance: Gilbert Woodcock. Alexander Scholarship: Dulcie Baker, Iwa Parton. Junior National Scholarship: Valerie Hill; pass, Junior National Scholari ship: Lambert Mayor, Archie Mack. BOWLING The Ferns competition was the only match of any importance on the local green on Thursday afternoon. The holders (F. Reid and E. Loader) retained the Ferns after a very strenuous game, the challengers being Eaton and Claringbold. • The local teams who journeyed to Ohakune and Raetihi to compete for the Bangitikei Shield had a win at both towns, thus making them the winners of the northern section, and laihape play off tne final with th. winners of the southern section whoever they may be.
