USE OF CHEMICALS
HIGH CONSUMPTION REFLECTION OF STANDARD OF LIVING Received Feb. 16, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 15. Sir Max Muspratt, speaking at a Colonial Institute luncheon, emphasised the high standard of living which the Dominions maintained, which meant la high consumption of chemicals. China’s population was 50 times Australia’s, but she imported from Britain only one-third more chemicals than Australia. Despite their troubles, the Chinese were developing the consumption of chemicals, but as the population of Australia increased it would become potentially an infinitely greater consumer of Britain’s chemical products.
