DEATH MATCH

GOLF THEN GUN ETERNAL TRIANGLE LOS ANGELES, Feb. 14. Andrew Jankowski and Cornelius Callaghan, partners in an automobile business, and lifelong friends, recently quarrelled over the attachment between Jankowski’s wife and Callaghan, who was a bachelor. Divorce was discussed, but Callaghan finally agreed to leave the city, the Jankowskis continuing to live together. Resuming friendly relations the three decided to play a final golf match together. Hundreds of people watched the curious tableau. At the eighth tee, Jankowski, who was highly nervous, slammed his driver into his bag, pulled out a revolver, and aimed at his wife. Callaghan leaped in front of Mrs Jankowski, and was fatally wounded. Then Jankowski committed suicide, while his weeping wife collapsed over the bodies of both men.
