DAIRYING [ From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent. ] The Rangitikei Dairy Company, Ltd., are paying out over £7,500 for January’s supply at the rate of Is 3id per lb. superfine, the amount of butterfat received being over 30 per cent, above that of the corresponding period last year. The following are figures of interest re grading, computed at per thousand pounds, the month being divided into three periods of 10 daye:—Superfine--862, 904, 890; first grade 130, 088. 107second grade 008, 008, 003. The average for Ihe month was superfine 886, first grade 108, second grade 106. The percentage of second grade but-ter-fat is practically negligible and the farmers must be congratulated on the attention they are now giving to the cream. GENERAL NEWS The Afanchester Unity Lodge will hold an assembly dance in the Oddfellow’s Hall this evening. The Bulls annual school-picnic will be held to-day. The School Committee have made complete arrangements for the pleasure and safety of those attending, hot water being provided free. The life-saving apparatus is to be manned by two strong swimmers. A complete sports programme has been arranged and children and adults are assured of an excellent outing. The Bulls-Ohakea Sports Club will run off the 220 yards and 1 mile handicaps to-morrow evening. There will also be a tyre race for boys and various minor flat racing and field events. MUCH-WED STAR In the last two years Conway Tearle, who will be seen on Saturday night in the Bulls Town Hall in “The Sporting Lover,” his latest picture, ha.s been wed to such well-known beauties as Anna Q. Nilsson, Corinne Griffith, Colleen Aloore, Claire Windsor, Dorothy Afackaill, Alice Terry, Alice Joyce and Clara Bow. But it was all for the movies. The second episode of Amundsen’s Flight will also be screened.
