MANGAWEKA EWE FAIR Dalgety and Company, Limited, report on the Mangaweka Ewe Fair held on Thursday as below: —A total yarding of some 18,000 ewes came forward, tho majority being 4 and 5-year-old sheep. The better class and all the young ewes met with good competition. There was a very large attendance of the public, and the sheep were widely distributed among up and down the Coast and Waikato buyers. Our entry comprised some 5,000 odd ewes, and the following are quotations:—M.A. ewes, 'los, 12s to 14s, 4 and 5-year ewes, 16s, 16s lOd, 17s 17s 2d, 17s 6d, 18s to 19s 2d; 2-th ewes, 20s, 20s Bd, 21s Bd, 22s 6d, 245; account of J. A. Glen, 77 4-th to 4-yr ewes 21s 9d, 232 5-yr ewes 20s 4d; account of Anderson’s Estate, 218 4 and syr. ewes, 19s 4d; account of C. F. Dalgety, 255 4 and 5-yr. ewos 21s 4d; account of R. W. Smith, 140 2-th ewes 245, 118 5-yr. ewes 18s; account of A. Russell’s Estate, in conjunction with the F.D. Co. and Abraham and Williams, 848 s,yr. ewes 21s, 250 4-th maiden owes 29s 2d, 130 4-th maiden ewes 295.

The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., report: —We had a very satisfactory sale at Mangaweka our yarding being 12,500 ewes out of a total yarding of approximately 20,000. Ewes came forward in very good order and were quite up to the high standard of previous years. There was a large attendance, and buyers were present from all parts of the district as well as Waikato, King Country, Taranaki and Manawatu. Despite the heavy yarding, prices were well maintained right to the end, and although several vendors accepted prices a little below what was expected, the sale was a very sound one and very little went out unsold. Prices were as follows:—Good 2-tooth ewes, 25s to 31s 2d; medium do., 20s to 24s 6d; small do., 14s 8d to 18s 6d; maiden 4-tooth ewes, to 29s 2d; b-tooth ewes, 23s 9d; 4-year ewes, to 21s 6d; 4 and 5-year ewes (good), 18s to 21s Id; medium do., 15s to 18s; 5-year ewes (good), to 21s Bd-; failing-mouth ewes, 6s to 14s 7d. PALMERSTON NORTH SALE Dalgety and Company, Limited, report on the Palmerston North sale held on Thursday as follows: —A good yarding of sheep and a small entry of cattie came forward and all were disposed of at the following prices:—Quotations: Good wether w.f. lambs 14s 6d, small M.S. lambs 8s 3d to Is 9d, M.S. 2-th 19s Bd, 4 and 5-yr ewes 15s, fat wethers 22s 3d, fat lambs 17s, f. and f. ewes 10s 6d. HEAVY YABDINGS AT FELLDING Dalgety and Company, Limited, report on the Feilding sale on Friday as follows: —There was a heavy yarding of sheep and a good yarding of cattle, the yarding of sheep comprising principally fair to medium w.f. lambs which met with dull sale. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on the Feilding sale as follows: A heavy yarding of sheep came forward, consisting chiefly of lambs and store ewes. The market was easier for all classes of aheep owing, no doubt, to the dry spell. There was a good entry of cattle, including some very, nice pens of forward bullocks, which failed to meet the vendors’ reserve. Morrison at his Pokaka property, near Taihape, on Friday. There was a good .attendance, and buyers were present from the Manawatu, Wanganui and Waikato. Bidding was not particularly animated, and several of the lines of sheep were sold in purchaser’s favour.
