Commenting on Signor Missolini’s project of a corporate State, to which . the interests of all classes are subordinated in order to secure maximum productivity, the “Times” in a leader says:— ‘ 1 The conception of the partial formation by a first rate European Government of la project so immense will startle even the generation which witnessed the rise of the Soviets. Alarm and discontent prevail among the industrial financial classes, who most strongly supported Signor Mussolini, and he knows this. “There aro complaints that the Fascist heads of trades unions arc dictatorially more arrogant than the Socialist chiefs of the old trades unions. People wonder what he will do if he sees distrust in his rule increasing. “The most usual surmise seems that he will turn to the Left, and all feel that th c future is an enigma. None has much confidence in thc corporate State, which is la tremendous adventure, fraught with huge peril. There are vague hopes that the Duce is strong enough to transform or renounce it if he sees that its certain dangers outweigh its advantages.”
