A BLANKET OF FOG
ENGLAND ENSHROUDED MANY VESSELS IN COLLISION SMALL STEAMER’S AIMLESS DASH LONDON, Feb. 13. The whole of England, south of the Midlands, is enveloped in a fog which has never completely lifted since Friday. There have been many collisions of small vessels in the Channel during the week-end and many steamers have been damaged, but there has been no loss of life. The City of Tokio grounded off Margate on Saturday, but was refloated to-night. The Spanish steamer Gordejuela collided with the small Norwegian steamer Baa on Saturday morning. The Spaniards rescued the Baa’s crew, but the latter, expecting the Baa to fonder at any moment when they took to the boats, did not stop the engines. The result is that the Baa is still racing aimlessly about with her engines going. It is feared she will ram other ships. Dover sent out tugs in pursuit but they ■were forced to put back owing to the density of the fog.
