The sanders cup BETTY WINS FPEST RACE CHRISTCHURCH. Feb. 12. In the first race for the Sanders Cup this afternoon Betty (Canterbury) holder of the trophy, won easily. She finished three minutes ahead of the Auckland boat, Rona, which finished second but was disqualified for having Murihiku fl (Southland) The finishing times were:—Betty (Canterbury) 4hrs. 29min. 15see., Rona, (Auckland) 4hrs. 32mim 22sec., Murihiki II (Southland) 4hrs. 33min. ssec., Avalon (Hawke’s Bay) 4hrs 33min. 50sec., Winifred (Otago) 4hrs. 35min. 23sec., Peggy (WelHagton) 4hrs. 37min. 35sec.
CORNWELL CUP WON BY SOUTHLAND BOYS [ Per Press Association. ] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 13. The Cornwell Cup race was sailed on a triangular course yesterday (afternoon, with a light moderate breeze. The starters were:—Winsome (Lyttelton), Wee May (Auckland) Comet (Napier), Kai Iwi (Wellington), Wet U. (Christchurch), Sea Pebrl (Otago), and Gadfly (Stewart Island). The race was won by Gadfly, manned by Southland boys.
