THE KNOCKOUT CARPENTIER IN NEW ROLE LONDON, Dec. 19. A Paris message states that Georges Carpentier, who recently refused h million francs (at the present rate of exchange about £8250) for a six months’ music hall engagement, will shortly be playing lead in a new play. “The Knockout,’’ with the comedy star (Mlle. Spinelli). Carpentier is preptaring to recover the French heavyweight title, which he has never tried to regain since Siki sensationally knocked him out.
