TREBARTHA IN PORT

HAIN FREIGHTER BERTHS BIG SHIP AT CASTLECLIFF. The novelty of the presence of big overseas freighters at the Castleclilf Wharf has nut yet completely worn off. as crowds of Sunday sightseers indicated yesterday, by the attention being bestowed on the Hain liner Trebartha, which berthed on Friday. Wearing a huge white “H” on her black funnel, the Trebartha is a unit in a fleet known to all of the seven seas. A sister ship was the ill-starred Trevessa, which foundered in the Indian Ocean, .wo of her boats reaching safety after an epic voyage. St. Ives, Cornwall, is the purt of registry of the big fleet, and most of the names bear a Cornish flavour, though four of the ships are named after rivers. The steamer now tied up at Castlecliff is commanded by Captain AL G. Symons. She was built in 1920, and brought to New Zealand general cargo from New Y’ork. Yesterday a representative crowd gave her a searching inspection, bestowing (attention on everything, from the engines to the coloured crew.
