DEMPSTER ARRIVES
INTERNATIONAL CRICKETER I ACQUISITION FOR WANGANUI The arrival in Wanganui of S. Dempster, Wellington and New Zealand representative, who is to live here in future, has caused no little gratification in local cricket circles. Air Dempster, who is a well-known batsman of noted run-getting ability and a brilliant fieldsman, has been transferred to the local branch of a wholesale soft-goods house, and his presence should strengthen the Wanganui Cricket team, which at present holds the Hawke Cup. Wanganui will now be able to call on three cricketers, Dempster, E. H. L. Bernau, and C. A. Holland, entitled to wear the fern-leaf adorned blazer and cap which signify New Zealand representative status. The new blood is welcome, as a strong challenge is expected from Hawke’s Bay, where T. C. Lowry, late of Cambridge University, and R. de R. Worker, another New Zealand representative, have lately settled.
