RANGITIKEI GOLF CLUB. (From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent). A men’s eclectic match over 18 hole# was played at Bulls on Saturday afternoon. S. Gobel returned the best cferd, which read 44. 18, 26. W. H. Stevenson was second with 46, 15, 31; and A. K. Drew third with 49, 16, 33. As an indication of the excellent work of the handicapping committee, it is worthy of mention thtat of 18 competitors, only 3 were outside the 30’s. Next Saturday a mixed foursome will be played, the trophies being clubs-pre-sented by an anoymous donor. Intending players are asked to send in their names to the secretary as soon as possible. ODDFELLOWS’ BALL. As will be seen by an advertisement appearing in this issue, the annual bail of the Rangitikei 1.0.0. F. Lodge will be held in the Town Hall, Bulls, on Wednesday. Larkin’s Orchestra has been engaged, and the prices charged should ensure a big attendance, this being the first ball of the season here. GENERAL. Constable Larmer returned to Buffs on Saturday afternoon. It is pleasing to report that under specialist treatment his recent eye trouble has been cured. Constable Ryan, who has been in charge of this district during Constable iJarmer’s absence, expects to return to his home station, Foxton, early this week. There was no football here on Satur-4 day, but the local seniors visited Alar-. ton, and, as anticipated, a good game resulted. Afarton won by the narrowest of margins, but in the opinion ofl local enthusiasts the Bulls team was a trifle unlucky. Clark AfcConachy, the New Zealand champion billiardist, was in town last week land one unsuspecting local champion was inveigled into a game of 100 up. Needless to say the local player was second. Bulls school played their first match; in the primary schools’ Rugby chain-' pionship on Friday, when they beat Marton A on the Bulls Domain by 0 points to 6. The lodal boys are required to travel to Turakina next Friday. At the Winter Show at Wanganui last week the Parewanui Dairy Company obtained a first in the case cheese (white or coloured) and a second in the case cheese (white or coloured) made from raw milk. Johnny Hines in the “Live Wire” on Saturday evening was voted the best since “Charley’s Aunt.” Picture fan* will be pleased to hoar that Harold Lloyd in “Why Worry?” is coming here soon.
