It is much the better.” This advice was tendered a visitor to Marton, by one of the Rangitikci fanners who met to discuss freezing works problems on Monday, and is a typical indication of the popular disfavour into which the main WangaehuWanganui road has fallen. Knowing motorists now save themselves the expenditure of many epithets and a lot of worry regarding loose nuts, by taking the Warrengate Road and No. 2 Line, the smoother running compensating for the extra distance involved. Recent improvements between the Marangai bridge and Marybank have reduced the length cf the unsatisfactory section, and if the stretch between the bridge and the top of the Wangaehu hill could now be tackled aggressively all would be well. The improvements effected lately make the road near Kaitoke immeasurably smoother. A solid coating of metal has been put down, and has been firmly rolled in. Noting and appreciating the change, motorists hope the improvement policy will be continued.
