A COLD SNAP

DUNEDIN’S UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE SUDDEN CHANGE FROM SUMMER TO WINTER. OCCASIONAL HAILSTORMS. [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Nov. 6. After weeks of warm summer weather, Dunedin experienced an unusual and trying cold snap to-day. In the morning the temperature had dropped considerably, and a cold wind, with driving showers of rain and occasional hail storms, lasted throughout the day. A light coating of snow topped Mount Cargill and Flagstaff Hill, which overlook the city.

BAD OUTLOOK FOB CUP MEETING. [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 6. The weather for the Cup to-morrow is exceedingly unpromising. Though the rain which fell during the day was of little consequence, it has come down steadily since dusk, and snow has been falling for the greater part of a'n hour, nearly an inch covering the ground. A heavier fall has been experienced in North Canterbury, where it commenced to fall about nine o’clock.
