REV. WEST-WATSON ACCEPTS APPOINTMENT A CABLED MESSAGE | Per Prnss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 3. The Dean of Christchurch has received a cable mcssiage from the Rt. Rev. Campbell West Watson, accepting the Bishopric of Christchurch. No information has yet. been received as to when the new Bishop will leave for the Dominion. THE NEW BISHOP INTERESTING CAREER The new bishop has been Bishop Suffragan of Barrow-in-Furness since September 21, 1909. He is a son of Adam West-Watson, merchant, of Liverpool. The new bishop was educated Ut Birkenhead School, and later at Emanuel College, Cambridge. During his University career he gained many honours. In 1899 he took a. .firstclass iu the Classical Tripos and in 1901 a first in the Theological Tripos, be-
coming also Carus Greek prizeman, and winning the Carus scholarship. Ho graduated M.A. in .1903 and was made an honorary Doctor of Divinity in 1910. In 1902-3 he was lecturer at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, .and from 1903 to 1909 was Fellow, lecturer am chaplain of Emamuel College He was ordained deacon in 190.3 and priest in 1903. The Right. Rev. Campbell West-Wat-son has one publication, “School Commentary on English Acts of the Apostles, revised version .1908.” He has two sons and three daughters.
