Archbishop Julius will be a passenger by the Ceramic, which sailed from Sydney for England to-day.
At last night’s meeting of the Wanganui City Council motions of condolence were passed with relatives of the late Messrs A. Thompson, W. H. Clapham, and A. McFarlane, who had all served on the council.
Mr J. C. Afurray, manager in the Wellington district for the Vacuum Oil Co. Proprietary Ltd., has been in Wan ganui for the past few days on matters in connection with that company’s development work in the district. Air Afurray left for the North on Tuesday.
Mr V. AL Crotty, who has been associated with the local branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia for the past nine years, has been transferred to Gisborne. Mr Crotty leaves Wanganui to-day.
It was with deep regret that the many friends of Afrs R. F. Johnston, of Auckland, heard of her death, which occurred yesterday. The deceased, who was the youngest daughter of the late Mr Andrew McFarlane, of Wanganui, was very well known, and was highly esteemed by all with whom she came in contact. A husband and two boys are left to mourn their loss, and to them and the bereaved sisters and brothers sincere sympathy will be extended.
