A GOOD WEEK

ROUND THE SALES IN TARANAKI. IN VENDORS’ FAVOUR. The past week has been a very good one. All stock has firmed up and met a good strong market throughout the district. Vendors have had real good sales, well above last year’s prices. We have had a few sharp frosts which will not do much harm provided we do not get any more, a good shower would be welcome and very beneficial. Dairymen are in a belter position now, the milk yields having gone up considerably. Eat stock is still firm al late rates but cows are coming away very fast and will help to relieve the position very shortly. Store cows have been eagerly competed for, store bullocks being short in supply and very had to find. Bulls have held firm, and total clearances at the yardings has been the general rule. Dairy heifers have met with a fair to good sale, quality has been very fair. Very few outstanding heifers are coming forward and the season is just about finished.

At Hawera on Thursday we had a good yarding of bullocks and store cattle and a very fair entry of dairy stock. A very good sale resulted over the yarding, fat cattle being well competed for.
