EGYPTIAN DECREE
REASON FOB THE ORDER. TO SAFEGUARD THE PUBLIC. CAIRO, Nov. 1. Hilmy Pasha Issa, Minister of the Interior, stated that the object of the political organisations’ law was To safeguard public security, eliminate harmful societies, and organise the political life of the country. There was no in- | tention whatever to interfere with the rightful liberty of the people. All must obey the law, but requests for delay in regard to complying therewith would be generously considered. [lt was cabled on Saturday that consternation had been created in Cairo by a Royal decree compelling political organisations to make a declaration in regard to their headquarters and membership within a month.]
