The monthly newspaper “Motor Ship’’ suggests that in a few years there will be so many motor vessels afloat that they will influence the freight market owing to lower operating costs. The total tonnage of motor vessels now being built all the world over is 1,065,623, compared with steamers’ tonnage of 981,788. Thirty-eight per cent of tonnage now being built in the United Kingdom and sixty-four per cent, being built in foreign countries will be fitted with oil engines.
