THE COSMOPOLITAN CLUB
(To the Editor). Sir, —Since reference has been made to the Cosmopolitan Club, I would like to remind your readers of its record of patriotic and charitable work, as published about two years ago. When more men were called for in th<> South African war the club contributed £3OO. equipping 12 men. The club gave £lOO to the loctal War Memorial, £5O to the Raetihi Fire Fund, £l5O to the fund in connection with the influenza epi domic, £125 to the Poor of London Fund, £125 to tho widows and orphans of those who fell in the Jutland battle. It was in recognition of this last gift that Lord Jellicoe specially visited tho club. A similar gift was £25 to the Hospital for Facial Treatment, London. It was also sfiated in tho record published two years ago that the club had given £3OO to provide prizes at various schools in tho district, and £lOOO to many charities. Aloreover, the club invested £4500 in war loans, and bought £lOO worth of war certificates. I think these figures are worthy of consideration las showing that the club has done good work.—l am. etc., MEMBER.,
