WAIMARINO COUNTY COUNCIL

ADJOURNED MEETING The adjourned specilal meeting of the Waimarino County Council was held in tho Council Chambers, Raetihi, on Friday. The chairman (Mr P. C. Afurray), presided and there were also present: —Crs. T. McArthur, T. E. AfcLean, and A. B. Harris. Alteration of Ridings. It was resolved that in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by Sections 23, 59 and 60 of the Counties Act, J 920, and any amendment of the said Act and of every other power in th>at behalf enabling tho Waimarino County Council hereby resolves that the present subdivision of the said County of Waimarino into seven ridings is revoked and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into seven ridings to be called Ruatiti Riding, Alanganui Riding, Horopito Riding, Huikumu Riding, Parapara Riding, Ohakune Riding and Karioi Riding; that tho said Waimarino County Council shall consist of seven members, who shall be elected as follows: The electors of the Ruatiti Riding, Alanganui Riding, Horopiti Riding, Huikumu Riding, Paraparta Riding, Ohakune Riding, and Karioi Riding shall each elect one councillor.

Makotuku Stream Bridge The Town Clerk, Raetihi Borough Council, forwarded the following letter:—“Tho temporary bridge over the Alakotutu stream is now in course of construction. As it will necessarily be some time before my council are able to get a commision appointed to apportion the costs, etc., in connection with the building of a new bridge, with which it is intended to incorporate the temporary work, my council will be looking to your council to contribute 50 per cent, of our outgoings until such time as the allocations are defined. I made application to the Minister of Internal Affairs for authority to borrow on overdraft an amount equal to our expense re the bridge under the provisions of Section 7 of the Loc&l Bodies Finance Act, 1921-22, but have received a reply that there is no authority in that section under which my application could be granted. After a short discussion it was resolved on tho motion of Cr. AfcLean, seconded by dr. Harris, that the council pay according to the finding of the commission
