SHRUBS
Eutaxia Difusc.—This small shrub, t native of Australia, will, when better known, bo very popular. It starts flowering when one year old and is not hard to suit as regards situation. It prefers a dry place, but will do well almost anywhere. The colour of the flowers is la deep orange or orange pink. There is no other shrub with flowers of the same colour, except, perhaps, the dillevyria, which is something the same colour, but quite different in growth. The azaleas are at. present in bloom. They aro exceptionally showy this year. IP the azalea mollis or Japanese azalc'a show signs of dying off at tho tips it needs pruning to renew the growth. The best time to do this is just after they have finished flowering.
Erica Hybrida.—This tall growing scarlet erica, which has just lately been at its best, should now bo pruned hack to produce now wood for next year’s flowers. Another variety that will soon be in full bloom is erica intermedia. This also should bo pruned back as soon as it has finished flowering.
