ALL THINGS POSSIBLE

V.\IAT THE EMPIRE CAN PRODUCE 1 ‘BUY BRITISH GOODS” LONDON, Oct. 30. The Duke of York presided at a dinner given by the Empire Exhibition Commissioners for the Dominions and Colonies to the Exhibition Board. Mr Justice Rawlings (Australia), in proposing the toast of the “Empire Exhibition,” said that he hoped the Imperial Government might be induced to maintain the ownership of Wembley to show what the Empire meant. Mr L. S. Amery dealt with the educative value of the Exhibition. If only we could clearly and strongly grasp the vision of developing the Empire, then the possibilities of progressive welfare of all parts of the Empire would be illimitable.

The Duke of York, responding, said that the Dominions, colonies, protectorates and mandated territories had proved that little or nothing was not procurable within the Empire. Mr Cunliffe, Sir A. Lister and Mr Neville Chamberlain have circularised the Lord Mayors and Mayors throughout the country to consider whether they can organise a local shopping week before Christmas, devoted to a display of home and Empire products, affording the people an opportunity of helping trade and employment in Britain, while the purchase of Empire goods will enable the Dominions and colonies to buy more from the Mother Country.
