DOING THINGS

(To tho Editor) Sir, —Mr Veitch at Gonville said the National Party promised to do things, whereas the Reform Party only promised to investigate them. After hearing Mr Coates’ straightforward statement at the Operti House, and having proof of what he has done in the Public Works Department, Post Office and New Zealand Railways, which party is that sentence most likely to apply to? I, as most, can see as far through a stone-wall as Mr Veitch, and from Wanganui’s viewpoint a little beyond. He sees only himself and his honorarium. I see a man in Parliament, if—remote chance now —he got there, owned by nobody, an excrescence (good word that!) and not only useless to his own electorate, but to the whole country.—l am, etc., OLD HAND. Wanganui, October 29, 1925.
