PLUNKET SOCIEI. TAIHAPE BRANCH (From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent). A special meeting of the Taihape branch of the Plunket Society was held for the purpose of making final ar rangements for a street stall to be held on Wednesday, November 11; present: Mesdamcs Ferry (in tho chair), Maclean, Hay, Munro, Beale, Illingworth, and Henricks. Each member was appointed to attend to the canvassing work in the various districts, and in view of the fact that extra expense has recently been incurred a very special effort will be # mado to make the stall a financial success.

General arrangements were made for attendance at the stall, and it was re ported that a shop in Tui Street recently occupied by Mrs Drew had been secured for use as a receiving depot. The following articles for competition have been accepted with thanks:— Mrs Munro, doll; Mrs Henrick, Plunket badges; Mrs Malcolm, pram cover; Mrs Murrell, coal scuttle. UTIKU TENNIS CLUB The annual meeting of the Utiku Tennis Club was held on Monday evening. The report and balance sheet —both satisfactory documents—were read and adopted. Several members were elected and reports augur well for the success of the coming season. The opening day was fixed for November 7. The outgoing committee was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—Patron, Mr R. T. Gibbs; president, Mr T. Hyndes; vicepresidents, Messrs Picard, Hallagan, Bourke and E. C. Gibbs; secretary and treasurer, Mr S. F. Riley; auditor, Mr W. W. Pye.

THE CROQUET SEASON OFFICIALLY OPENED Ideal weather prevailed for the official opening of the 1925-26 croquet season, which important event took place on Monday. Several visitors were present and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. Several competitions were held for prizes donated by Mesdamcs Marsh, Fisher and Illingsworth, and Miss Gilbert, and were won as follows: Combined doubles.—Mesdames Phil lips and Fisher. Skittles.—Mrs McCallum. Angles.—Mrs Casey. The lawn is in first class playing order, and during the past week has been well patronised. A successful season is a foregone conclusion.

SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR “BUSY BEES” IN ACTION The annual sale of work in aid of the Mission Fund was held on Wednesday afternoon, when a number of well stocked and gaily decorated stalls did a “roaring” trade. The following stallholders were in every sense of the term “busy bees,” and are to be congratulated on tho business-like manner in which they carried out their duties: Cake stall, Misses Agnes McLennan, Doris MeCombie, Greta King, and Nancy Box; sweet stall, Misses M. Leighton, Nonie Coleman and Mavis Wilsher; work stall, Misses Doris Thompson, Nellie Weller, Joyce Wilsher, and Jean de Latour. The afternoon tea stall was in charge of Mrs Mair, assisted by the junior Bible class girls.
