MARTON

“NEW JOYS” TO-NIGHT AT TOWN HALL. (From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent.) Richard Barthelmess’ productions are always distinguished for their excellent casts. His latest First National vehicle, “New Toys,” which comes to the Marton Town Hall this evening, is no exception. The young star has a noteworthy cast surrounding him in “New Toys,” which, by the way, is a delightful little tragedy of a young couple. Mr Barthelmess plays the role of the youthful husband, his first comedy role in six years. The popuhr star was last seen in a comedy role with Dorothy Gish under the management of D. W. Griffith. That was back in 1918. In “New Toys’’ his supporting cast includes Mary Hay (Mrs Barthelmess) in the role of his young wife. Clifton Webb, the wellknown footlight comedian, is making his film debut in another important role. A new discovery, Katherine Wilson, is also making her first screen appearance. Director John Robertson looks upon her as a. distinct find. Other players in the cast are Bijou Fernandez, Francis Conlon, Laura Lacacillade, Jules Jordon and Jacob Kingsbury.

BOY SCOUTS’ SHOP. In connection with the Marton Boy Scouts’ shop to be held in Hannan’s buildings cn Tuesday next, a beautiful piece of workmanship, in the shape of a doll’s house, is now on view in Thomson and Co.’s store on Broadway. The house was made by a member of the local troop, and reflects great credit on the ingenuity displayed in the design and erection. It is also artistically furnished with miniature furniture. A guessing competition will be held to decide the winner of this artistic piece of work. SIGNS OF PROGRESS. Mr T. J. Mcllwaine, the successful tenderer for the building of a twostorey brick building for Moral Bros, on Broadway (next to Blackman Bros.), has made a start on the ground work. The work will be carried out under the supervision of Mr W. T. Higgins, architect, and it is estimated that it will cost about £2700.
