CATTLE FAIR AT MASTERTON GOOD PRICES FOR GOOD STOCK The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Distributing Co., Ltd., offered 1232 head of cattle at their Spring Cattle Fair at Mesterton yesterday. Buyers were present from all parts of the Wairarapa and from the Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki districts. Good prices were realised for stock that came forward in fair to good condition. Only a moderate proportion of the yarding were poor. Fat cows and bullocks brought good prices, but were a little, easier compared with recent sales. Other classes of stock elicited keen competition. Messrs Grove Bros.’ store bullocks topped the market at £l2 and Mr Dagg’s fats brought £l4. Yearling steers wore in demand, Mr E. Pain’s (Whakatahi) making £5, which is about the best price this season. Prices were as follows: Fat bullocks £l2, £l3 to £l4; store bullocks, .£9, £lO 10s, £ll to £l2; 3-yr steers £7 to £8 ss; 2-yr £5 10s to £7 2s 6d; vlg. £4, £4 10s, £4 15s to £4; fat cows £lO to £lO 10s, lighter £7, £7 10s to £8 15s, store do. £4 10s, £4 15s, £5 15s to £6 ss, backward do. £2 10s to £3 10s, 2-yr heifers £3 15s, £4 to £4 12s, ylg. do. £2 10s to £3 10s.
