DROUGHT STRICKEN
SERIOUS POSITION IN N.S.W. FARMERS’ PROSPECTS BAD. SYDNEY, Oct. 29. Reports from many country di* tricts show that the position is vciy serious owing to the continued drought and shortage of water. In the northwestern areas conditions are especially bad. Sheep are dying, and toe owner's arc killing lambs to save the lives of ewes. The grass is rapidly dying and the wheat crops generally aro suffering, over considerable areas. What before tho drought promised to be a Jumper harvestis threatened with fail ure unless rain falls quicKly.
