TRIUMPHAL TOUR
MR COATES PASSES THROUGH NINE SPEECHES YESTERDAY ENTHUSIASM EVERYWHERE. (Special to “Chronicle.”) FEILDING, Oct. 28. Another day of wonderful progress goes down to tho credit of the Primo ; Minister. Leaving Stratford this morning he proceeded tu Waverley where he unveiled a war memorial. This, of course, was purely a non-political gathering and at it politics wero carexully avoided. Mr. Coates was entertained at lunch at Waverley aud from there went on to Wanganui where a very largo crowd had assembled to hea*r him, although tho meeting was held in the afternoon. Air. Coates had to address a big overflowing meeting in front of thu building. Inside, there was a scene of great enthusiasm. All tho seating accommodation upstairs and down was occupied and hundreds of people had to stand. At tho conclusion of Mr. Coates’ (address tho big audience passed a unanimous vote of confidence in tho Primo Minister and tho Government. Mr. Coates left JVanganui amidst rousing cheers and preceded for sumo little distance by tho pipe band. At Alarton Air. Coates laid tho foundation stono of tho new post, office, a ceremony which was very largely attended, land at the conclusion of tho proceedings ho was heartily cheered. After being entertained at a dinner at Alarton the Primo Alinister hurried to Bulls where ho delivered a short open air address. Rounds of cheering sent him on his way to Feilding, where ho addressed an overflowcrowd outsido tho Tivoli Theatre, and then entered the building to deliver his ninth speech of tho day. The full house received him well, gave him a great henring and passed an almost unanimous vote of confidence in him and his Government. Cheers wero given for the Primo Alinister, for Air. Gordon Eliott (tho Government candidate) and counter cheers for Mr. R. Cobbe, tho National candidate.
