BACK TO THE CONQUEROR
SIR ANDREW LE FLEMING. DIES IN DUNEDIN. Sir Andrew Fleming Huddleston Le Fleming who died at Dunedin last Tues|day, was a baronet whose title runs back to the Conqueror, being twentysixth in succession from Sir Richard Le Fleming, second son of Sir Michael Le Fleming, who came over with William of Normandy. The patent of nobilitv dates from 1066. The family seat is Rydal Hall, Westmoreland. Away back tho Le Flemings were proprietors of Carnarvon Castle. Warwick the King-maker is in the pedigree, also several royalties. The father of the deceased baronet was Sir Michael Le Fleming, who came out to Canterbury. Sir Andrew was born at Christchurch 69 years ago and was educated at Christ’s College. He married Jeanette, daughter of the late Mr Roderick Fraser, of Glen Lovat, Seacliffe, Otago. There are no children, and the title goes to Sir Andrew’s cousin, William Huddlestone Le Fleming, of Otakeho, Taranaki, then to his son, Frank Thomas Le Fleming, who served with the New Zealand forces in the Great War. Sir Andrew and Lady Le Fleming came to Dunedin years ago for medical attention to Sir Andrew.
