MOONEE VALLEY RACES MANFRED’S NARROW WIN. BEATS THE NIGHT PATROL BY A HEAD. Received October 25, 5.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, Oct. 24. The Moonee Valley races were held to-day in fine weather. Three horses were killed in the Steeplechase. Following are the results of the principal events:— W. S. Cox Plate. (Of £750; w.f.a.; 94 furlongs). MANFRED (B. Chaffey), b c, 3 yrs., Valais—Otford, 7.11, F. Dempsey 1 THE NIGHT PATROL (Earl of Stratbroke), b h, aged, Stedfast —Dark Flight, 9.4, G. Young .. 2 PANTHEON (imp.), 8.1, S. Cracknell 3 There were six starters and Manfred won by a short head, Pantheon being three lengths away. Time: I.s7—an Australasian record. The winner was accorded a great ovation. Moonee Valley Cup. (Of £lOOO and Cup; 1 mile 34 furlongs) TOOKARBY (M. Denis), b g, aged, Sea Prince—Caram 1 RAITH (E. A. L’nderwood) br c, 4 yrs., King Offa-—Arrasene .... 2 FRIARSDALE, imp. (J. S. Lowe) eh h, 5 yrs., Friar Marcus—Vinilla 3 There were seventeen starters. Won by a length and a-half. Time: 2.27. Tookarby was formerly trained by G. Delaney, who was recently disqualified by the V.A.T.C., but is now trained by i’ave Price, a New Zealander.
