N.S.W. POLICE AWAKENING. NEWSPAPERS PROSECUTED. SYD.NEY, Oct. 24. The police have awakened to sudden activity in connection with the steadily increasing publication in newspaper of racing tipsters’ advertisements. They hava laid forty-six informations under the Betting Act against a number of daily and weekly papers, also a number against tipsters. The hearing of those against tho newspapers were adjourned to November 6, while nine tipsters were fined sums ranging from £1 to £lO on charges of causing the advertisements to bo published.
