CYCLONIC STORM
DISASTER IN PERSIAN GULF WORST IN LIVING MEMORY. GREAT LOSS OF LIFE. Received Oct. 25, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 24. Advices received in Karachi from Bushire state that the worst cyclonic storm in living memory in the Persian Gulf resulted in the loss of over a thousand lives, and the sinking of forty vessels. Bahrein was the most affected centre. Another message puts the loss at 7000 lives. ANOTHER REPORT SEVEN THOUSAND DROWNED. Received Oct. 25, 5.5 p.m. (The Times) BASRA, Oct. 24. It is reported that 7000 were drowned when 240 pearling dhows were caught in a cyclone in the Persian Gulf.
