TRANSFORMATION IN TARANAKI
GRASS GROWTH EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS STOCK MARKET BECOMES FIRMER The Farmers' Co-op Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd, reports as follows: The stock market has firmed up during the past week and wo had more enquiries than has been the order for several weeks past. The growth has exceeded all expectations, and particularly so where paddocks have been lightly stocked or closed up. Dairy stock has sold pretty well. The season is ■well advanced now, and a few more sales will see the end of the dairy heifers. Pigs have advanced slightly, duo no doubt to the rise in baconers, and dairymen having a bigger yield of milk. Shearing has- been commenced on dry sheep, and the next week will see many sheds started, particularly so on the utuwai country. All store stock has sold well at late rates, with a good demand for young store cows. Beef and mutton remain firm, and prime cattle are practically unprocurable. Yarding at the different centres have been well maintained and good clearance has been the general order.
