Nominations ofr Federal gcrieral election candidates are officially named in every one of 241 ridings. In Ontario province there are 186 candidates contesting eighty-two seats in the House of Commons. In the three prairie provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, there are between 150 and 160 nominees for fiftyfour seats. British Columbia has produced thirty-five contestants for fourteen seats. Quebec Province, for sixtyfive seats, has J 45 candidates. The maritime provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island with 29 seats, have 58 candidates. Both Liberal and Conservative Parties are contesting almost every riding, while Progressive Labour and Independent candidate are named in considerable numbers. Tho nominees include four women, one in New Brunswick, one in British Columbia, and two in Ontario. One is on the Labour ticket, one la Progressive and two Independent, Nominations total 581 candidates nominated in 241 ridings. Tho Liberal Party, headed by Premier Mackenzie King, has 216 official nominees, tho Conservatives 239, Progressives 69, Labour (including Farmer-Labour) 21 and Independents 37. Polling takes place on October 29.
