BRITISH POLICE ARREST M U KDEREB GREAT SECRECY MAINTAINED Received Oct. 23 7.25 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 22m> Police met the Melita at Southampton. Very great secrecy was maintained in taking Towers off. He told the police that his life aboard the steamer had been made one of misery. (Towers, first officer of the British steamer Melita, lying at jLntwerp, shot the captain and seriously wounded two others. The Belgian police placed him aboard the steamer, which sailed for Southampton.) THE WOUNDED MEN. MORE HOPEFUL REPORTS. Received Oct. 23, 10.10 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 22.
Gilmour’s condition is more hopeful. The bullet entered his face and lodged in an ear. It will probably bo extracted to-day. Holiday is also improving.
