The crisis caused by a GrecoBulgarian collision is still acute, further fighting is reported, though accounts are conflicting. COMMISSION OF INQUIRY BULGARIAN PROPOSAL REFUSED By Telegraph—Per Press Assn. —Copyright. Received October 23, 7.25 p.m. ATHENS, Oct. 22. The Premier refused a Bulgarian proposal to form a commission of inquiry into the frontier incident while Bulgarians are on Greek territory. FURTHER FIGHTING REPORTED BULGARIANS RESIST GREEKS. Received October 23, 7.25 p.m. ATHENS, Oct. 22. Further fighting is reported owing to Bulgarians resisting the passage of * Greeks advancing to occupy an outpost. OFFICIAL GREEK REPORTS ADVANCE STOPPED. BULGARIANS EVACUATE GREEK TERRITORY. Received Oct. 23, 10.10 p.m. (Reuter) ATHENS, Oct. 23. An official report issued at one o’clock on the morning of October 23, states: The Bulgarians received reinforcement sat Demirkapau. The Greek command is making an encircling movement around Petristi with a view of compelling the Bulgarians to evacuate Greek territorry. The faH of Petristi is imminent. The Bulgarians are stubbornly resisting. A message issued at 4 o'clock in the morning states: “The Government stopped the advance of Greek forces ; n consequence of a report that the Bulgarians had evacuated Greek territory. The Greeks will retain the posiA tions at present occupied until Bulgaria replies to the Greek Note. It is stated that Greece will abide by the demands embodied in the Note, and is not disposed to negotiate on any other basis.
GREEKS BOMBARDING PETRISTA TOWN IN FLAMES. Received Oct. 23, 10.10 p.m. VIENNA, Oct. 22. Sofia reports that the Greeks are continuing a fierce bombardment of Petristi, which is in flames. NOT AN ULTIMATUM EXPLANATION BY GREECE Received October 24. 1.15 a.m. ATHENS. Oct. 23. A statement issued at 7 a.m. on October 23, says: The Greek Note to Bulgaria was not intended to be in the nature of an ultimatum, though discussion is useless until the terms of the Note are accepted. WORK FOR THE LEAGUE AN APPEAL BY BULGARIA Received October 24, 1.15 a.m. (Reuter) SOFIA, Oct. 23. A semi-official report issued at 6 a.m. ca October 23. states: Bulgaria protest'd to the Secretariat of the League « f Nations, requesting immediate sumrnnning of the League touncil to investigate the Greco-Bulgarian dispute. It also ordered frontier guards to withdraw to avoid further complications.
