BRISBANE, Oct. 20. The Premier (Mr Gillies) and Mr W. Dunstan (secretary of the Australian Workers’ Union) have been appointed lay members of the Board of Trade, with salaries of £2OOO yearly. Mr W. McCormack succeeds Mr Gillies as Premier, and Mr T. Dunstan, assistant Minister, has been elevated to full Cabinet rank, and Air Gledson appointed assistant Minister. In the Assembly, the Opposition denounced the appointments, stating that the Bill under which they were made was framed for the purpose of finding a last political refuge for those who bad outlived their usefulness.
