THE DEEAMATION ACT NEEDED AMENDMENT SOUGHT SYDNEY, Oct. 21. The Country Press Conference decided to seek an amendment of the Defamation Act to provide that plaintiff should give (authority for costs equal to the amount, but not exceeding onc-forth of the amount of damages claimed, and to protect the newspapers against an action for defamation when the subject of the (action is proved to be due to an error or an omission in the press telegram.
