The International Railway Congress in London passed a resolution by 90 votes to 35 declaring that a rigid eight hour day was impracticable, but each case should be examined on its merits.
In the House of Commons, replying t") Sir Harry Brittain’s question whether the Australian and New Zealand Governments had been approached regarding the Anglo-Australian air service, Sir Philip Sassoon said that this would be taken up when the experimental stage of the airship programme was further advanced. The Dominions had already been informed of the position of the airship scheme, and generally all the developments affecting civil avia lion.
The Duchess of York unveiled the famous mediaeval Five Sisters window in York Minster, restored as a national memorial to the 1465 women of the I’m pi re who died during the war. Taverner, deceased, claiming damages for alleged conspiracy to deprive. Bradbury of the idea to hold Wembley. Bradbury withdrew al! the allegations which lie could not substantiate. A. Bill introduced in the Federal Parliament provides for the deportation of persons involved seriously in industrial disturbances or concerned in offences to the prejudice of the public. It also provides for a restriction of aben immigration when considered Lccessary.
The Canadian Senate began consideration of the Australian Treaty this morning. The debate is continuing. One amendment moved is that the teduction on goods coming into Canada under the Treaty should not
apply to goods on which any bounty has been paid by the Australian Government.
