FAT SHEEP IN BIG DEMAND. (Per Press Association). CURJSTCB URCII, Feb. 25. At Addington market heavy yurdings were again the order to-day. Well over 40,000 sheep were penned. The sal.; was a hard one. The top auction price (for Poverty Bay 2-toolh. ewes) was 44s 3d in a private sale. Store Sheep.—Over 30,000 forward, including good ewe lines from J’overly Bay. A sluggish sale in the forenoon, with frequent passings, but improvement later in the day. Good ewes were slightly better than last week. Laanbs were about the same, but old ewes ind wethers were decidedly easier, the for met by 4s to 6s per head on a month ago. Fat Lambs, —A small yarding of 3000 head. Prime to 36’s made 13d per lb, to 4'3’s, 121 d; and overweights and seconds, 11 -Jd to 12? f d- A. very keen sale. Fat Sheep.—A heavy yarding, 33 per cent, more than usual. Exporters secured a good proportion at a schedule of 71d for prime wethers, and 6 : }d for ewes. Their competition kept the market up, there benng no passings. Extra prime wethers, 50s 3d; prime, 40s to 43s 6d; medium, 36s 6d to 39s 6d; light. 33s to 365; extra prime ewes, 42s Id; prime, 34. s to 375; medium, 3Ls to 33s 6d; light, 27s 6d to 30s; aged, 25s 6d to 275. Fat Cattle. —A very heavy yarding of 535, and frequent passings, there ing a further easing on last week of 20s per head. Best beef, 35s 6d to 38s; medium. 33s to 355; medium and cow beef. 31s to 32s 6d; rough, down to 20s per lOOlbs. Store Cattle.—A fairly large entry, mostly cows. Demand was poor and frequent passings were made, especially of steers and heifers. Fat Pigs.—A good sized entry. Demand for porkers weaker. Beconers (irm at late rates. Choppers, £2 10s to £4 10s; light baconers, £3 Jss to £4; heavy. £4 5s to £4 15s; extra heavy. £5 ss.
