WAVERLEY NOTES.
U.S.A. DANCE. The Waverley Town Hall was the scene of a very successful dance on Friday evening, June 27, given by the R.S.A. in aid of the local war memorial. The decorations were particularly picturesque, being carried out in a quaint Japanese display of vivid colourings. The various entrances were graced by rose-covered trellis arches. Streamers and balloons of every hue were in evidence, and the lights, which were prettily shaded, added greatly to the charm of the whole decorative scheme. The floor was in excellent condition and the delightful, inspiring music by the Premier Orchestra was unsurpassable. The ladies’ committee had provided a very enticing supper, and deserve great credit for their untiring efforts. Among those present were Mesdames Wallace, C. Johnston, Bremer, Graham, Mathieson and Misses Bourke, Cleary, Mathieson (2), Southeombe, Young, D. Lisle. The gentlemen included Messrs A. G. Wallace, C. Johnston, L. Wales, Kingsford, Campbell, Bremer (2), K. Hunt, and several oflieers and men from the local racecourse camp.
