DAVIS CUP. LONDON, June 9. In the Davis Cup, Wheatley beat Spence (South Africa), 7-4, 6-3, and 6-4. Gilbert (Britain), beat Raymond (South Africa), 6-1. 4-6, 6-2, 3-6, 8-6.
IN THE AMERICAN ZONE ORDER OF PLAY. Received June 10, 8.30 p.m. NEW YORK, Juno 9. The Tennis Association has announced the schedule of play in the American zone Davis Cup teams: Cuba meets Canada at Ottawa, July 24, 25, 26. The winner plays Japan at Montreal on July 31, August 1 and 2. In the meantime Australia meets China at New York on July 30, August 1 and 2, the winner to engage Mexico at Baltimore on August 7,8, and 9.
The final round of the American zone will be played at Providence, Rhode Island, probably in the middle of August, whereafter the winner of the American and European zones will meet at Boston, beginning on September 4. The challenge round will be played at Philadelphia on September 11, 12, 13.
