VALEDICTORY

The Town Hall, Gonville, was well filled on Tuesday evening of last week, King’s Birthday, when the children ol the Anglican Sabbath School tendered a farewell social and fancy dress dance to their departing vicar, the Rev. H. A. Flavell. The presence of over 300 children with their parents was sufficient evidence of the esteem in which the Rev. llavcll was held by his parishioners. A feature of the evening was th> grand march, in which the children participated. The fancy worn by rhe dancers presented a very colourful spectacle. A very pleasant evening was spent with dancing and games, after which eulogistic references to work done by the Rev. Flavell made by representatives of the Sundry School. Ou behalf of the school, a junior scholar presented Mr Flavell with a shaving mirror and a handsome luminous dial clock. The Girl Guides, under the command of Guidemistress Soeberg, and the Boy Scouts, with Scoutmaster Weatherall in command, paraded in uniform and presented Mr Flavell with framed photographs of their troops. Rev. Flavell suitably responded, and in a brief speech thanked his well-wishers for their words anj tokens of kindness.
