YORKSHIRE ▼. SOUTH AFRICA MATCH DRAWN. - LONDON, June 6. Yorkshire declared their second innings closed when the score was 142 for three wickets. South Africa’s second innings score is 141 for 6 wickets; Susskind making 60. Heavy rain overnight delayed the start, and rain also interrupted play, and the match was drawn. SOUTH AFRICA v. CAMBRIDGE Received June 8, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, June 7. The South Africans commenced a match against Cambridge. The weather was fine but the wicket was slow. Rain stopped play for the day just after the tea adjournment. Africa scored 274 for 5 wickets—Nourse (in) 143. Nourse gave a faultless display of driving and cutting. ENGLISH COUNTY MATCHES Received June 8, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, June 7. Sussex scored 156 against Middlesex, the latter scoring 132. Lancashire scored 113 against Yorkshire, Macaulay 6 for 40. Yorkshire lost 3 wickets for one run. Surrey scored 195 for one wicket against Notts—Hobbs 105, Jcacockc 60, both not out. AUSTRALIAN BOWLER AND LANCASHIRE LONDON, June 6. Lancashire wants MacDonald, declares a special article in a Liverpool newspaper, urging the county authorities to secure the services of the Australian bowler. The cry was taken up by other Lancashire newspapers, one of which understands that an offer will be made to MacDonald, who is not adverse to the idea. Another points out that although MacDonald is under agreement with the Nelson Club for this and next season, it is considered likely he' will return to Australia at the end of this season, and play against the Englishmen in the tests. If he does, he will automatically be ineligible for Lancashire.
